I had the opunity to go out on a 12 hour day of fishing with my wife, daughter and father on the”My Marlin,” skippered by Steve Torres and crewed by Oscar on 12/29/15.
This is the second year going out w Steve and he does not disappoint. Starting with Damon who does a great job in setting up the trip and communicating all neccessary details, I wanted to have the opportunity to catch a
marlin as well as dorado. Steve and Oscar did an outstanding job letting us know what to expect and how the day would unfold. We trolled and had an early dorado hookup. Later Steve found floating debris and it was game on with the dorado. We caught five monster dorado (mostly bulls) I missed one. That gave us a total of 6 for the day. Other boats came to us after seeing our hookups. They weren’t catching anything upon arriving; we had the right bait. The best was yet to come. After about 15 minutes of beginning to troll again, the marlin
hit. With superior boat control by Steve, I was able to boat my first blue marlin after a 1/2 hour fight, weighing in at approximately 300 lbs. Right after it was over, Steve said, “Let’s get another one.” That’s confidence. My
family and I vacation in PV every Christmas and I would never consider another boat or captain.

Puerto Vallarta fishing report April 2016
We have a big month of Yellowfin Tuna fishing this last month the big bite continues about 15 miles past el banco so even though the fishing is hot do not think it will be a easy task. It is still about a 3 hr ride from the Marina so if you after Tuna you need a 14 hour to overnight charter. It seems we are finally in between seasons for Billfish I did not think it was going to slow down since Marlin and Sailfish have been biting consistent all year I guess all good things must come to an end but the big question is when will the Billfish bite start again Normally the Blue and Black Marlin fishing season is mid June to mid December but this last year it has been from June to March with even still a few caught in mid March.

It has been a great start to our Puerto Vallarta fishing season We normally never see Blue Marlin this time of the year but We have been catching them every offshore charter all year so far which is outstanding for January. We are also catching Sailfish, big Dorado, and Yellowfin Tuna. ishore off the point of punta de mita has been hot with Roosterfish and smaller Dorado with a few Sailfish, and 10-12 hr days offshore to Corbetena or El banco is where you find the Marlin, Sailfish, and Big Dorado/ Mahi mahi We have also had a couple Yellowfin Tuna bites outside of el banco as well but the big Tuna are biting consitently about 20 miles past el banco. Inside of banderas bay has been full of Jack Crevalle, and Bonitas, as well as Sierra Mackeral. The Blue Marlin have been averaging 120-300 lbs so they are not Huge but still a experience of a lifetime if you are lucky enough to be in Puerto Vallarta soon. Puerto Vallarta fishing report August 2014.
Finally the Yellowfin have shown up at Corbetena through out the year the Yellowfin Tuna bite has been consistent but has been 120 miles offshore this last Monday We finally started to see some life at La Corbetena 36 miles offshore last Monday August 11th there was Schools of Tuna averaging 30-150 lbs. Hopefully We will start seeing some 200 + lb Tuna fish by the end of the week. There has also been Smaller Tuna on the south side of Banderas bay averaging 5-12 lbs but the bite been in the evening between 5pm and 8:30 pm. The Small Tuna have been biting on small Sardines. Now back to offshore the waters at the bank were green on Monday and even further offshore by the Islands but Corbetena was nice and blue with a few boils of Tuna, We also caught Sailfish, and Marlin it really felt like Puerto Vallarta fishing is suppose to in middle of August. Though Sailfish and Marlin have been hot at Corbetena all through the summer it just has not felt the same since the Tuna were biting a 120 miles offshore and a overnight fishing charter was needed to reach some Cow Tuna I am very happy to report You can catch some nice sized Tuna on a 10 or 12 hour day right now.
Puerto Vallarta fishing report August 2014
Well July was great month for Billfish alot of Sailfish and the guy’s finished the month off strong with 3 blue Marlin last week 2 caught outside of el banco and 1 at La
Corbetena. We have also been catching Sailfish and mahi mahi at La Corbetena and el Banco the yellowfin Tuna fishing has been very slow besides a few small 10 pounders inshore other then that if you want to the big cow Yellowfin tunas you need a full 2 and 1/2 to 3/12 day charter 120 miles offshore. Inshore fishing We have been catching Jack Crevalle, Bonitas, Skip jacks, Needlefish, and a few smaller Mahi mahi. Right now offshore Billfishing is what is most hot so if you want a Sailfish or Marlin it is great time to be fishing in Puerto Vallarta.
